Andrew - He started yet another year of teaching first grade! Each year he debates a little on switching grades but then looks at all he has and has put into the school year/classroom and just sticks with the first graders. I think it is because the kiddos are just to much fun and are still slightly scared of him. Why move older with more attitude and less fear!?!? Just my theory! He has stayed busy with the start of the school year. With all the prep work, then getting the new kids into the grove and the planning he puts in long days and usually a whole afternoon each weekend. On top of all the regular teaching 'stuff' he has been working on getting the tutoring program up and running, has been nominated for a couple tech comities with in the district plus still works on new ways to implement technology in to the classroom....oh and still finds time to be a daddy and husband. I may be bias but I thin that is rockstar material! I think he secretly loves off coffee and soda at school just to keep up!
Kara - I am currently back in the classroom at work. Not what was planned but being short staffed and having experience that is where I ended up. I work with six little 2/3 year olds on a daily basis from 7:30-5. A long day full of (what seems like) potty training and parenting! There is not a lot of education going on since they are so young and have a hard time understanding but it works out. I say things like "go potty please", "use your words please" and "please stop and listen" a lot. Not quite like being in a four year old room and although it is fun and definitely a learning experience I still think I prefer teaching a little bit older kiddos! The plan is to have this position and the long work weeks temporary but we have still had no luck on finding a replacement so the show must go on! These early mornings, late nights and long work weeks makes it seem a little less real that I am reaching the start of my 18th week of being pregnant. I think back to being at this stage with Braylon and I feel as if I had just reached the roly poly belly stage where as not I have a full out preggo belly that is getting harder and harder each day I wake up. On the plus side I have not gained as much with this baby but on the down side I also was much smaller when starting out with Braylon. I am over the weight thing though... it is what it is! As long as this baby is healthy, we are happy. I am sure as the weeks go on the baby gets bigger and more active and my hours at work hopefully slow down it will become more real that in less than six short months we will have another strong willed, big hearted, stubborn and most amazing little Fenstermaker in our home!
Braylon - Where do I begin!! Our little monster seems to change on a daily basis! He learns a new work every hour it seems and never stops talking. Our day care provider jokes with him and says 'talk, talk, talk' and or course he repeats it. His new word is "Owe" and seems to think when he does not like something, does not want you helping or touching him or if you are even close and something does not go his way he says owe. Hopefully the wrong person does not hear him or we could be in big trouble! We have been enjoying some evening walks and trips to the park since the weather has been AMAZING. We have found he would much rather walk himself then ride in his stroller. It has become almost impossible to walk with him riding. He does, however, get tired sometimes and will just sit down where he is and wait for you to pick him up or will say "you do it, momma". He never seems to ask for daddy! On top of trting to get outside after supper as much as possible we have also made a few trips to local places like the apple orchard and the raptor center for some fun fall exploration. He has found a new love for sticks with all this outside play too. He was a hoot for the apple orchard and once he ate an apple he was a picking machine. We have been eating apples like crazy and he loved them with peanut butter too! I think he is finally picking up, although maybe not fully understanding, that there is a baby in momma's tummy. Every night before bed we listen to a book on CD and have some giggle time together and every night he picks up my shirt and says belly and baby! I am anxious to see the first time he feels the baby move. I am sure it will be a cross of freaking out and excitement! This coming weekend Braylon is a little ring bearer in friends wedding and we finally got him a tux. We tried it on today to make sure it fit and I am very excited to share some pictures with you next week. He was so stinking handsome and looked so big! I am sure there are more and more stories I could go into but I would be here all night! Here are some of his recent favorites...
- peanut butter
- a pillow at bed time
- number games on the ipad
- apples
- tractors, trains and anything construction
- talking
- movies! He can sit through a full length movie now! (he is just like his momma!)
- playing kitchen, cooking, cutting the play food and sharing tea from the tea pot
- coloring
- wrestling daddy
- eating with big boy silverware and cups
- being outside any chance he can get!
All in all the Fenstermaker's can not complain. We would settle for a few shorter days in the week or longer weekends for the matter but life is good and we have been blessed and well loved. We are looking forward to our upcoming month and hopefully getting a jump start on a little boys 2nd birthday!! Life really does travel in warp speed! Hugs to all!
