This month has definitely gotten away from me. School has officially started in the Fenstermaker house. Everyone is back to early mornings but still struggling to get to sleep early. Andrew is back to teaching half time fifth grade and that time technology integrator (or something along those lines) for the school district. This is the same as last year but there has been some redoing of job titles and responsibilities for the tech job. He seems to enjoy it a lot but definitely keeps his plate full. Braylon is in his final year of preschool. We were lucky enough to keep Ms. Emily for a second year too! I know she will really push him to grow into the class leader as well as academically. He will be more than ready for kindergarten (mommy....not so much)! Brekkon continues his journey with Shira. this will also be his last year at in home. Next summer he will be joining big brother for preschool fun! We have been so blessed to have found Shira and all the love she gives our little turkey! It's amazing to feel you are dropping your child off at a home away from home! As for me...my assistant director role never seems to be the only job I do. It's a never ending cycle of staff turnover right at the wrong time. Last year I ended up in the four year old room for the entire school year and this year I have started the year as the lead 3 year old teacher. Now don't get me wrong....I love teaching and being in the classroom and there are days I question if that is where I truly belong and not as the boss but the doing of two jobs is exhausting. Mentally at work and had home. It makes for long days and short nights when I am trying to stay on top of a two person load. I manage through and somewhere in there try to find a good medium place. Here is a peek back at the last few weeks...
Some great creating by Braylon ... We even ran errands looking like this. I thought it was fantastic work!
Brothers who actually play well together!
Braylon's class trip to a local spash pad. These huge swings are always a favorite!
Brekkon's new kicks .... size 10.5 already!
Braylon was so proud of his new shoes that he picked out all on his own. He just knew they would make him run the fastest! This man is creeping into big boy sizes already!
We had a fun camping weekend at a new location too. We had been to the park and the beach but never the campground. It has so much exploring to do but as for the campground...it was ok.
Mid August Braylon's preschool/my work closes for a couple days of in service. We clean, regroup and organize for the new school year which means Braylon does not have preschool. We had originally planned to send him to day care with Brekkon but Nana Judy happened to be off that week. The boys took a two sleep over trip (as they call it) which allows Nana some kiddo time and mommy and daddy a couple date nights. We enjoyed two dinners out including the local winery and a movie too! It was glorious on all ends!
We also got to celebrate Andrew's birthday! Brekkon was not feeling well so he skipped out on most of the fun but Braylon and daddy went out to celebrate with ice cream! We also spoiled daddy with a few gifts. Braylon had decided so long ago that he wanted to get Andrew a Mario shirt. We were blessed to find one and a couple extra that Brekkon helped pick out too!
Along with the showering of gifts I managed to put together a little surprise party for Andrew. Nothing big or fancy but a few of his favorites hanging around and drinking a few beers. Right up his ally. To top it off my brother, his wife and the twins stayed the night. So we got a little adult time after bed and the kids got to spend a few hours together in the morning!
Two hooligans in a shark! Ha! Their faces say it all ... TROUBLE!
One afternoon doing some yard work led to some amazing bug finds. Right up the boys alley and they were full of excitement to find them! Look at how huge they are!?
This month also brought our basement back. Yay!! We have flooring and paint and trim done in ever room but the bathroom. We spent this last weekend working to move stuff back in and get all organized. I'd say we are almost there!
This right here is a not so awesome wife moment. I may have locked us out of the house....absolutely no way in. Oops! Did I mention it was 10pm!? We debated calling a lock smith but with our boys ready for bed (or beyond) and the price to have them come Andrew decided he would just "break" in. So he did and some how with God's grace it worked! We may have had to replace a door knob but it was a mission accomplished (and for much cheaper!).
